Short Scam Victim’s Story #1 – 2025

I have no illusions that I will never be scammed again. Instead I need to learn and to adapt to all the new ways that the cybercriminals will devise to trip me again. While I lived in the scam it was all so real. Today I look at the sky, the sun shining, listen to the birds singing and watch people moving about their day. Inside I question: don’t they know? Is this just an ordinary day for them but for me it is anything but ordinary? Don’t they feel the same differences that I feel? How can everything have changed for me but for them life seems normal? AND then I realize: it was only my experience. I am changed. I see with different eyes, I process differently always cautious, I may look at Facebook but I no longer click on links – instead I note the name of the company and search their website online and process from there if I can trust this company. This article is truth, a hard truth to be sure. It scares me that parents daily allow their children to play mass online games without being certain what or whom their child is hearing, saying, doing and communicating with. Yet it happens. I learned a hard truth about myself – I no longer instantly trust people. I learned to make others earn my trust, I learned to stop, look, listen before just clicking on something including personal email and texts. ALWAYS TEST THE ICE BEFORE VENTURING ON TO IT!!! This is just a hard lesson to learn and it will become a part of me and a part that will need to continue to learn and grow. Cybercriminals adapt quickly and devise new methods to gain their objective.
